Frequently asked questions.

How to place an Order:

First, you need to place an order online. Click on “The Lab” at the top of the page, and choose the services you want, and add to cart.

Your Order Number is at the top of your confirmation email which you will receive after you check out. Any loose rolls of film dropped off in the Film Drop Box without the Order Number won’t be able to be processed.

Then when you are ready, simply take your film to Eagle Rock Camera & Goods at 1754 Colorado Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90041. The Film Drop Box is on the left as you walk in under the window. Film drop off envelopes are inside the drop box. Grab one, drop your film inside, write your order number on the top, lift the lid, drop your envelope inside, and you’re done! We will retrieve your film that day and begin processing. You will receive an email confirming your film was received, and again when your film ha been processed.

At this time, you must drop off your film to Eagle Rock Camera, please do not ship film.

How Do I pick up my negatives?

Once you receive an email confirming that your film is processed, you can pick your negatives up at Eagle Rock Camera Friday through Sunday. If you would like your negatives shipped to you, choose USPS Priority Mail at checkout.

We will hold your negatives for 30 days, at which time we will dispose them. If you need us to store your negatives for longer, please reach out via the Contact page so we can work with you to find a solution.

Do you process disposable cameras?

We accept almost all disposable cameras. Please choose 35mm color or 35mm B+W when ordering.

I souped my film, can I send it to you to develop?

Please, do not send us souped film. Whatever you souped your film in will contaminate our chemistry and you will be on the hook for a very expensive bill to replace it! Souping film is cool, but should be carried out only if you plan to process your film at home.

How do you scan?

All film is camera scanned using a Canon 5DSR, Negative Supply film carriers, and a high CRI light source. The Canon 5DSR has a 50mp sensor that produces RAW files that are 8688px on the long edge, with wide dynamic range and incredible detail. Not only is this method incredibly time efficient, the resulting files are neutral, hugely flexible, and indistinguishable from pro scanners like Noritsu and Frontier. The only distinguishing characteristic is how neutral the files are, where the Noritsu and Frontier machines tend to have a distinct “look”.

For examples of the quality of the scans, please refer to the galleries on the order pages.

How is film processed?

Currently, all film that comes through the lab is processed with B's Processors for consistency, stability, and repeatability.

For C-41, we use Kodak chemistry, which is the industry standard for a lot of really incredible labs.

For E-6, we use Arista E-6 chemistry.

All of our B+W film is stand processed using Kodak HC-110 and Adox Rodinal. We like HC-110 and Rodinal for their fine grain, smooth tonality, and stability.

What is your Turnaround Time?

Typically, processing and scanning takes 3 days, often faster. Scans are delivered Monday-Thursday, film is picked up from the drop-box Tuesday-Sunday.

How do I ship my film to you?

We currently only service the Los Angeles area. Film can only be dropped off to Eagle Rock Camera & Goods during normal business hours.
